OBITUARY Dr. Henry Kissinger
Abstract
Dr Henry Kissinger taught History, he made History and he wrote History. His endeavors lie at the core of the theory and practice of history. His first such work, written first, but published last, is The Meaning of History an undergraduate dissertation surveying the theories of history propounded by Immanuel Kant (1724-1804), Oswald Spengler (1880-1936) and Arnold Joseph Toynbee (1889-1975), Henry Kissinger was the last theoretician of History, before this genre lost its lustre. The most prominent work of History to come out was A World Restored: Metternich, Castlereagh and the Problems of Peace 1812-1822, Here, Henry Kissinger interprets the endeavours of Clemens Wenzel Metternich (1773-1859) and Lord (Robert) Castlereagh (1769-1822) Henry Kissinger wrote of the Congress of Vienna, at a time when the Treaty of Versailles had already heavily impacted the world, especially his native Germany.
